Celebrating Easter for the Full 50 Days

Hold onto the joy of Easter. Maybe take a moment of stillness to breathe in the Love of God.

I bring you Easter greetings from New Orleans. Erika, Morgan, and I made it after a bit of an adventure in Iowa with a dead battery and a night at a gas station’s pump #2.

While I am writing this, I am listening to the wind on Lake Pontchartrain and the water birds calling to one another. It is a joy to be camped by water, brackish though it may be, with these familiar sounds. And, in case you are wondering, the Mississippi looks a bit different down here!

Since I am technically on vacation, I will keep this brief and invite you to hold onto the joy of Easter. Remember the fun we had in selecting prize-winning bonnets. Remember the feeling of singing together surrounded by community members. Remember the beauty of all those Easter flowers (Thank you, Kevin for picking them out and bringing them in)! Remember the promise of New Life that is ever before us.

And if joy seems a bit out of your reach these days, trust that others are holding it for you. Perhaps a few moments of stillness to breathe in God’s great Love for the whole of Creation is all you can manage. Know that that is enough. You are enough.

May the joy of Easter guide you through these days, and the Love of God hold us all.

  1. It was so kind of Living Table to offer the flowers to us – I took some yellow and purple home to mom and it brightened her Easter- thank you!
