Ever wonder about the "I Am" statements Jesus makes in John's Gospel? What do they mean for us today?
Deciding on this summer’s sermon series has been more challenging than usual. Some of you had great ideas and I’ve finally been able to combine a few of them into something that works. The others may show up later in the year.
For the remainder of the summer the series will be, “I Am Christian.” It will be an exploration of the “I Am” statements in John’s Gospel and what they mean for contemporary, inclusive Christianity.
Many of these statements have been weaponized and used as a kind of litmus test for faith by many. Yet, they have deeper meaning than who is and who is not Christian. They are part literary device and part revelation of Jesus’ divine identity.
We’ll explore it all and, maybe, by the end of the series we will all be able to more positively proclaim our faith.
