On Thursday, November 9 approximately 70 people attended Greg Owen’s presentation in person or on Zoom. Greg’s 30+ year experience in conducting Wilder Research’s statewide study of homelessness in Minnesota allowed him to present not only the numbers and stories about what he’s seen and learned.

The data that Greg shared comes from the 2018 study. On October 26, 2023 Wilder conducted another homeless survey with over 1,000 trained interviewers sent out to shelters and encampments throughout Minnesota. Results of the survey should be available by the end of 2024.

It was heartening to me to see so many attend Greg’s presentation with representation from the New Branches communities as well as people beyond our congregations. The complexity of the topic indicates that there is no one way to end homelessness. Rather there is an abundance of opportunity! Next steps coming soon!
