A hearty group of people woke up in time to gather Christmas morning for Living Table’s Christmas Day morning worship service, as Christmas fell on a Sunday this year. It was announced for weeks that this would be “jammies with Jesus” and folks went with it by attending in jammies and without going out into the zero degree morning to get to church today.

The service included lots of singing of favorite Christmas music. Then, as a twist on the ordinary, Kevin and Pastor Rachael offered a podcast-style conversation in which Kevin, an interviewer who attends “a church in South Minneapolis”, interviewed one Mary, Mother of Jesus.

In closing, “Mary” left us with a reminder to not let facts impede our faith. Also shared this Christmas morning together were many prayers and Communion.

It seems this was a good service to have been a part of – podcast, jammies, prayers, singing and all. Merry Christmas!

Living Table and New Branches in the Local News

We also learned that New Branches and Living Table were on the cover of this morning’s local newspaper.

“One home, three churches – And a shared Christmas in Minneapolis”
story by Erica Pearson, Star Tribune
December 24, 2022

The article opens with a photo of New Branches Christmas carolers singing outdoors, and notes that 2022 is the first year in which Lake Nokomis Lutheran, Living Table UCC, and Spirit of St. Stephen’s Catholic Community will have celebrated Christmas “under one roof” at New Branches. The writer spoke to leaders from each of the three communities that comprise New Branches, and told the story of New Branches in this piece as she heard it. You can read the full text online at Star Tribune or if you subscribe to local paper delivery, find the article on the front page of the Christmas Day edition.
