Lake Nokomis Lutheran invites us to share in gift giving this year by taking a tag from the large tree in the Commons.

You’re invited to take any of the red or green tags from the Christmas Tree in the Commons and shop for gifts and essentials for others in need.

Red Tags: Keewaydin School Students

Purchase gift cards in any amount from Cub Foods, Walmart, or Target. Cards will be added to holiday gift baskets for Keewaydin families in our neighborhood being assembled by Roosevelt High School students. Gift cards are needed by Sunday, Dec. 10.

Green Tags: Bimosedaa Residents

Purchase move-in supplies to welcome new residents at Bimosedaa—48 new deeply affordable homes in downtown Minneapolis, developed by Beacon and Red Lake Nation with supportive services from Avivo. Many residents have experienced extended periods of homelessness; items for personal care make a huge difference in helping them settle in. Items needed: laundry baskets, bath and hand towels and washcloths, bath mats, and toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, menstrual care products, body wash, tooth brushes, floss, deodorant. Other Beacon congregations will be contributing supplies, too—from now into 2024.

As Beacon explains here, bimosedaa is an Ojibwe word that translates into English as “Let’s walk together.”
